The most notable inhabitant of Crosby lodge was Georgian Molloy (nee Kennedy), born 23 may 1805,who became one of the first settlers in South Western Australia. Georgiana's passion for the local flora eventually led to her incredible fame as a botanist in Australia and at Kew Gardens, London. Her interest in botany began when she was a child growing up at Crosby Lodge where Georgiana and her Mother kept the large walled garden which is still a prominent feature of the property to this day. |
In August 1829 Georgiana married Second Lieutenant John Molloy whose father, Captain A J P Molloy, was reputed to be of royal descent as the illegitimate son of Frederick, Duke of York, second son of George III.
